Regulatory Accountant/Gas Analyst

Job Summary

Utility Pipeline is seeking a Regulatory Accountant/Gas Analyst for our Canton, Ohio office. This motivated individual will assist our team overseeing utility accounting functions. This is a full-time, office position with benefits.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file all necessary regulatory monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and amendments on a timely and accurate basis
  • Prepare monthly volume statements for gas purchasing
  • Participate in the annual budget and balancing
  • Assist in preparation of utility rate filings
  • Post revenue transactions
  • Prepare various account reconciliations
  • Assist in audits, both internal and external, including audits conducted by regulatory agencies
  • Answer all inquiries from PUCO, other regulatory agencies, and local producers
  • Research and stay up-to-date on new and proposed regulations to ensure timely regulatory filings
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across departments within our operational footprint
  • Monitor trends in utility accounting and business management best practices
  • Support company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Results-focused and self-starter
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Advanced Excel)
  • Experience with accounting software (Business Central)
  • Literate in Natural Gas Terms
